Nowadays, it is safe to say that the image of Batik ; the iconic Indonesian garment, has been skewed since its inception as there seems to be a divide in the perception and value of Batik between the older and younger generation of modern day Indonesia. Some might say that it is seen as something more suitable for formal occasions. Can't believe batik fabrics can also be daily outfits? Steal the look from some of these recommendations!

1. Batik & Cardigan Look

As seen in the picture, this style of batik is adorned by Indonesian indie singer, Nadin Amizah and is growing in popularity among the youths of Indonesia. The batik fabric is made into canals and covered with cardigans with matching colors to complete the batik and cardigan look.

2. Batik & Sneakers

Batik can be utilized in a way that makes the combination look more chic and casual, through the combination of batik in the form of a skirt coupled with white sneakers. All in all, this style removes the rigid and uptight feel of batik and turns it into something more casual and suited to informal occasions.

3. Batik-Jumpsuit Dyad

The last style on this list is the “batik-jumpsuit dyad”. This not only looks neat and simple, but also is practical as one needn’t worry about finding a top and bottom as this look is a complete set from the get go.

Taking everything into account, with the right amount of effort, these three looks are a good start to make batik a part of your style but what do you think? Is batik capable of being something you wear in your day-to-day life?
